ST. LOUIS -- The magic runs out on St. Louis City SC."We're not superhuman after all," St. Louis City SC coach Bradley Carnell said.It might come across as an obvious statement, but for the previous five weeks, it felt as though MLS' newest team couldn't do wrong. You knew it had to happen. No team could be expected to win all of their matches. But for the sold out crowd at CITYPARK on Saturday, St. Louis City SC's first loss, a 1-0 defeat to Minnesota, still stings. It's even more upsetting for the players on the St. Louis sidelines."It's definitely disappointing, especially at home in front of our fans," St. Louis captain Roman Burki said. "We would have loved to give them again a reason to celebrate. It had to come but (the loss) was just a bit unlucky.""There is a lot to learn about the guys in the locker room when you lose a game," St. Louis Vice Captain Tim Parker said. "It's going to be good to see everyone's reactions. I'm sure training is going to be a little more intense t...

Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr. power Nuggets’ dramatic win over Warriors

Published Thu, 20 Feb 2025 19:11:01 GMT

Jamal Murray jumped around just like House of Pain had preached. As the anthem blared ahead of a jump ball late in Sunday’s fourth-quarter against Golden State, Murray looked gamely at his larger opponent: Draymond Green. When the tip went awry and found its way to Aaron Gordon, Murray was waiting to deliver the 3-point dagger. But these were the defending champions. It took much more than a devastating 3-pointer and a double-digit deficit to knock them off.The Nuggets survived a frenetic finish and two Klay Thompson 3-point looks that would’ve won it to hang on Sunday, 112-110. On the second try, Murray flew out and tipped Thompson’s look to seal the game.“A team of that experience, you know they’re going to make a run,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone said.Murray played bigger than his stocky frame, and Michael Porter Jr. filled the scoring vacuum with 29 points. For the third consecutive game, the Nuggets were without Nikola Jokic due to a calf injury. In his st...

A neurological condition that can affect anyone, regardless of gender, race or socio-economic status, autism manifests during early childhood and remains a condition that most people know little about.  Organizers with the nonprofit Autism By The Sea hosted the “Paddle for Autism” event, in which those attending paddle boarded around Balboa Island.  "A lot of people don’t really understand what autism is,” said Debbie Painter, president and founder of the organizing nonprofit. “Back in the ‘70s, you would find 1 in 10,000 people diagnosed with autism. Now it’s 1 in 39 children in the United States are diagnosed with autism. When my kids were diagnosed with autism, it was hard to find a parent to talk to about how to deal with this...now it’s more open. We have come a long way with understand...
