A Capital Region doctor explains the new shot comes at a crucial time for overwhelmed and understaffed healthcare facilities. Get the latest news, weather, and sports delivered right to your inbox! “There is a healthcare worker shortage nationally. You could say globally, even," said Dr. Christopher Guzda, Regional Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at St. Peter’s Health Partners.According to Dr. Guzda, respiratory season could pose a challenge to an already stressed facility.“By not having the appropriate staffing numbers, we’re not able to open up full capacity at a hospital," Dr. Guzda said. "During respiratory season, if we see an increase in respiratory cases that require admission, that’ll further strain our system.”That’s why he urges you to only go to the emergency room if you’re experiencing severe respiratory symptoms, chest pain, or...

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 04:50:07 GMT

BALTIMORE (AP) — Richie Palacios homered, rookie Drew Rom and four relievers combined on a three-hitter and the St. Louis Cardinals beat Baltimore 1-0 Wednesday night to trim the Orioles' lead in the AL East to two games.Gunnar Henderson's two-out triple off Ryan Helsley in the ninth inning gave the Orioles a chance to pull even, but Aaron Hicks popped out.Baltimore has lost two straight and three of four heading into a four-game series against second-place Tampa Bay beginning Thursday night. The Orioles have been in first place since July 19, in part because their longest losing streak since that time has been two.But Baltimore has scored only two runs in its last two games, not the kind of momentum it was hoping for heading into its most pivotal series this year.In a game dominated by strong pitching and tight defense, Palacios provided the lone run with a solo shot over the right-field scoreboard in the fourth inning off Kyle Gibson (14-9). It was his fourth homer of the season a...

Their margin of error in this new football season already gone, the Broncos are one bad loss away from tanking for the best available quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft.Should Denver be left with little choice but to move on from Russell Wilson before the worst contract in team history even kicks in, we’ve already seen the play that could get him fired.“We’ve got to treat every game as a championship game,” Wilson said Wednesday. While it might be one of those football cliches Wilson tosses more frequently than touchdown passes, in this case, his words are laced with a harsh reality.Only two games deep into his tenure as Denver’s coach, Sean Payton might have to decide if he’s really willing to ride or die with DangeRuss. After a season-opening loss to the Raiders that quickly crushed whatever cautious enthusiasm there might have been in Broncos Country, the insult of losing to Washington and going 0-2 at home against two NFL bottom-feeders would not only dash playoff dreams but ...
